During the month of November, we are spotlighting the transformative, life-altering work of BeyondHome, our latest High 5 Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Cares nonprofit recipient. 2020 has been a difficult year for all of us, especially for working families living on the margins, and we’re thrilled to support BeyondHome’s efforts to help Denver-area families achieve their goals of self-sufficiency for life.
What is BeyondHome, and Who Do They Serve?
BeyondHome (formerly Colorado Homeless Families) is “a place for personal, relational, vocational, and financial transformation.” They offer a comprehensive approach for struggling families to reach their personalized goals and become self-sufficient for life. BeyondHome realizes that when it comes to stability and self-sufficiency, housing is just the beginning. That’s why they provide a holistic approach to supporting the families they work with within all aspects of life, not just in securing housing.
We recently stopped by BeyondHome to hear more about what they do and who they serve. Get the behind-the-scenes scoop here with BeyondHome’s Development Director Deanna Mayberry.
Self-Sufficiency Program
BeyondHome owns 40 homes in Arvada and currently houses 40 families in the program. BeyondHome program members stay with the program for 18 months to six years, depending on their unique goals for themselves and their families. Services provided by BeyondHome include private trauma-informed therapy for parents and children as well as mentoring and training in life skills, parenting, healthy relationships, financial literacy, and more.
Women With A Cause Scholar Program
In 2020, BeyondHome merged with Women With a Cause (WWAC), one of their nonprofit partners aimed at lifting single mothers and their children out of poverty. The WWAC Scholar Program supports women through their education to find a fulfilling career path through which they can break the cycle of poverty. BeyondHome provides these women with a monthly stipend to help with their educational expenses.
Meet Latrice
Latrice is a WWAC Scholar, a single mom of two, and a senior at MSU. She’s pursuing her Bachelor’s in Accounting. Hear all about her success story in the video below from August 2020.
Collaboration with Partner Nonprofits
We were also super excited to learn that BeyondHome partners with two of our past High 5 Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Cares recipients, Thrive (July 2020) and We Don’t Waste (April 2019). We love to see Denver-area nonprofits connect and collaborate to help one another with resources, and BeyondHome does exactly that!

Why Did High 5 Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Cares Choose BeyondHome as Its November 2020 Recipient?
High 5 Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Cares gets connected with Denver-area nonprofits in a variety of ways. Some are recommended to us by clients, High 5 Plumbing, Heating & Cooling team members, family, and friends. Others reach out to us directly! That was the case this month with BeyondHome.
“BeyondHome connected with us, and we immediately knew that we wanted to support them. We got to hear about all of the families they have supported, and when we met with them, we saw firsthand what all of that entails. They have an amazing team that goes above and beyond for each individual they work with. We are so honored to support them this month!”
